I suspect that the freemium pricing model (which as of 2026 exclusively only works for software) will extend to materials as well once we have nanoassemblers. Nanoassemblers essentially compress the cost of production to energy and feedstock alone and that is enough for insane cost savings passed on to the consumer. See freemium pricing
