Scifi that got it right

Most things that scientists and engineers build are inspired by science fiction. And the better the creators are at showing the plausibility of some lofty science fiction technology, the easier it is to nerdsnipe the general population to become a builder and try to make it a reality.

Here is a list of concepts and who I think did a really good job at showing how the future will work. Maybe you can get some inspo on how to contribute to making that future happen.

• Not technically fiction but Ray Kurzweil's singularity books are great.

• Tron: Ares (see matter printer scenes)

Medical nanobots

• Elysium (yes I know they didn't explicitly mention it. But the instant molecular level therapeutic effects they displayed can only be achieved by nano-sized agents directing them)
